AVIATION PERM SEC EMBARKS ON AIRPORT FACILITY TOUR


THE Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation, Hajia Binta AdamuBello on Thursday began a facility tour of major airports across thecountry with a visit to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. Hajia Bello, who was accompanied by top officials of the ministry was led by Aviation CEOs as she inspected the Dry Cargo Terminal site under construction, old and new FAAN Power Houses, new CCECC Terminal Building under construction as well as the arrival and departure wings of the International Terminal Building. The Perm Sec also took time to go round the airport perimeter fence and inspected Surveillance and Navigational facilities like the TRACON siteDoppler Omnidirectional Radio Range (DVOR), Localizer and Glide Slope. In a chat with journalists, Hajia Bello stated that their mission was to have a first-hand assessment of on-going projects in terms of progress and quality of work in relation to the funds being expended so as to make for an informed assessment. The facility tour is expected to take the Permanent Secretary to Port Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu and Kano.


NAMA TRAINS NCAA ON E-FLIGHT CLEARANCE
Representatives from NCAA last week underwent a 2-day training and orientation exercise on the e-flight clearance at the ICT conference room, NAMA headquarters, Lagos. It was an interactive exercise as participants from NCAA offered modifications and other suggestions on ways to make the e-flight clearance software more encompassing and user-friendly. They praised NAMA for blazing the trail with innovative software which they considered first-rate standard and ground-breaking.


EX GM,PA ,FOUR OTHERS HONOURED

The Departments of Finance and Public Affairs joined forces last week to celebrate the retirement of four of their staff; Mr Supo Atobatele, the former GM Public Affairs, Mrs C. Elekwa, DGM Finance, Alhaja G. Shafi and Mr C. Ogbonnaya. In attendance were the MD, Engr Ibrahim Abdulsalam, the DFA, Mrs Clara Aliche and the DSEES, Mr Emma Anasi among other staff as well as the families of the celebrants.  Gifts were presented on behalf of their departments just as kind remarks were made about the celebrants by some of those in attendance. The happy celebration continued with a reception at the Accounts Building at the Headquarters Annex where food and drinks were served teeming guests.


ICT DEPT CELEBRATES WORLD BEST CIO AS HE STEPS ASIDE

It was atorrent of platitudes as Information Communication Technology Department took time out to celebrate the legacies of its pioneer General Manager, Mr Ifeanyi Ogochukwu at the conference hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport II (MM2), Ikeja Lagos. The lavish event attracted top officials of NAMA as well as stakeholders in the sector who commended the outgone GM for his focused, innovative, result-oriented and strategic leadership which ensured that the ICT department grew in leaps and bounds within the period he was in charge.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. Foreign firms are attracted to the U.S. aerospace market because it is the largest in the world and has a skilled and hospitable workforce, extensive distribution systems, diverse offerings, and strong support at the local and national level for policy and promotion.  According to a recent study by the U.S. Department of Commerce, aerospace exports directly and indirectly support more jobs than the export of any other commodity.  The U.S. aerospace industry directly employs about 500,000 workers in scientific and technical jobs across the nation and supports more than 700,000 jobs in related fields.  Investment in the U.S. aerospace industry is facilitated by a large pool of...

NAMA NEWS UPDATE

ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA. Receiving the report, Chief Chidoka stated that “the power of automation especially in the dynamic world of aviation cannot be wished away as it would facilitate the one aviation vision and also set targets and measurable timelines”.
