NAMA INAUGURATES LAGOS SUB-FIR SECTORIZATION COMMITTEE  
IN a bid to drive implementation of the sectorization of the Lagos sub-Flight Information Region (FIR), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency hasconstituted a five-man committee to be headed by a Deputy General Manager in the Operations Directorate, Mr AndrewAmedu. Among others, the committee’s terms of reference includes restructuring the Lagos-Kano sub-FIR boundaries with a view to alleviating the cumbersomeness sometimes experienced by pilots with radio frequency changes. When implemented, this move is also expected to reduce the workload of both pilots and Air Traffic Controllers such that Lagos Sector (East)will handle all traffic to the east and South East while Lagos Sector (West) will handle that of west and South West axis of Nigeria. The committee has two weeks to submit its report.

NAMA AUTOMATES STORES REQUISITION PROCESS
AS part of effort to enhance internal communication within the agency, management has approved the training of officers saddled with the responsibility of raising requests for stationeries and other technical equipment on Dynamics AX computer package. The four-day training commencing from June 30 would expose participants to latest skills and trends in automated requisition processes and also ensure faster treatment of stores requests. In a related development, the Information and Communications Technology department of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has installed CYBEROAM device which would facilitate services such as Bandwidth Management and Virtual Private Network, thereby enabling staff even in outstations to remotely log into applications like Microsoft Dynamics AX.

NAMA GETS NEW SLO
A new Security Liaison Officer, Mr Samuel Apev has been appointedfor the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). He takes over from Mr Abdul Eneche who was recently redeployed by the Directorate of State Security Services. The Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam has therefore requested all staff to accord the new SLO the needed support and cooperation.

Cameron welcomes new 50 million pound airside investment at Edinburgh Airpoort

Source: Edinburgh Airport Prime Minister David Cameron visited Edinburgh Airport this afternoon (22 January) as it announced a new £50m airside investment programme. Work begins this week on an extensive redevelopment of the airport’s immigration and baggage reclaim facilities, a move that will triple capacity for bigger long-haul aircraft. U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. Foreign firms are attracted to the U.S. aerospace market because it is the largest in the world and has a skilled and hospitable workforce, extensive distribution systems, diverse offerings, and strong support at the local and national level for policy and promotion.  According to a recent study by the U.S. Department of Commerce, aerospace exports directly and indirectly support more jobs than the export of any other commodity.  The U.S. aerospace industry directly employs about 500,000 workers in scientific and technical jobs across the nation and supports more than 700,000 jobs in related fields.  Investment in the U.S. aerospace industry is facilitated by a large pool of...
