ASUU Strike: Passengers Suffer As NANS Ground Lagos Airport

Many passengers on Monday missed their flights at various terminals of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos following protest by the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS). The protest leading to blockade of the major road linking the terminal restricted vehicular movement ,making the entire airport environment chaotic. This protest is coming almost a week after a similar showdown on Lagos -Ibadan Expressway to protest against the current industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. Expectedly ,men of the Lagos State Police Command, and Airport Police Command moved swiftly to maintain law and order around the airport vicinity. Some vehicles were used by the angry students to block roads linking the nation's premier gateway and this action has made vehicular movement in and out of the airport very difficult for travellers and other users. NCAA Grounds DANA Airlines Over Poor Financial Standing...a threat to safety

Musa Nuhu The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended Dana Airlines' Air Transport Licence (ATL) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) indefinitely, with effect from midnight of Wednesday, 20th July, 2022. The suspension was made pursuant to Section 35(2), 3(b) and (4) of the Civil Aviation Act, 2006 and Part 1.3.3.3(a)(1) of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs), 2015. Captain Musa Nuhu,the Director General of the regulatory authority, personally signed the press statement announcing the suspension order . The suspension order, handed down by the Director General, Captain Musa Nuhu, has since been communicated to the management of Dana Airlines.   Prepare For Three Days  Heavy Rainfall  – NiMet alerts the Nation  …warns on possible displacement and collapse of weak buildings April 6, 2022 The Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet),has predicted heavy rainfall in some States of the federation for the next three days. During the forecast period , according to the Agency, heavy rainfall “is expected over parts of Cross River, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger and the FCT ,just as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over parts of Benue, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo and Taraba state ” . A forecast bulletin endorsed by the Director General,Prof. Mansur Matazu,says “there are chances of light rainfall  over most places in the north on day two”. “As a result of the expected moderate to heavy rainfall in the next three days, there are chances of flash flooding of roads and low-lying settlements; disruption of traffic due to flooded or closed roads, reduction in visibility, likely damage to mud houses and possible disruption in flight operations”

  President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning to look for special funding for the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.  Speaking at the inauguration of the new Terminal Building, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, the President also directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to conclude the documentation of the approved 12,000 hectares of land to accommodate the runway and other developmental projects. Arik Air flight to Asaba makes air return

Arik Air has announced that it's  Dash 8 Q-400 aircraft operating the Lagos-Asaba flight this evening made an air return to base due to  technical issue. The aircraft, reportedly landed safely and the Pilot in Command, in compliance with safety procedures, decided to disembark the passengers on the airside of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The aircraft, according to Banji Ola,the spokesman of the airline was later taxied to the hangar for maintenance action. A substitute aircraft was immediately deployed to service the Asaba flight . The airline apologized for the inconvenience the incident might have caused the passengers,just as it said their safety was of utmost priority.   "
