AISAN harps on training of staff as it celebrates World AIS day



THE National President of Aeronautical Information Services Association of Nigeria (AISAN), Mr Babatunde Shittu, has called for the continuous training and retraining of AIS personnel in order to actualize a seamless transition from AIS to AIM. Mr Shittu who made this remark at this year’s  AIS Day celebrations/ Delegates Conference which took place in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital noted that there was the  need for AIS personnelto be fully equipped with  latest techniques in digital information management in order to drive the AIS - AIM project faster. In his welcome address at a pre-conference sympozium titled: Manpower and Training Development-a Prerequisite for Transition to Aeronautical Information Management, the AISAN President called on NAMA management to embark on courses and programmes that would further enhance the capacity of AIS personnel. Also speaking, the Director of Human Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson who represented the MD/CE, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, reiterated management’s commitment towards the implementation of Aeronautical Information Management, stressing that AIM remains a priority of management in view of its overall impact on safety of air navigation in the country.

... REELECTS SHITTU AS  PRESIDENT

The Aeronautical Information Services Association of Nigeria (AISAN) has reelected Mr Babatunde Shittu as its president for another term of two years. The elections which were held at the just concluded delegates conference in Uyo,  Akwa Ibom State also  saw the entire AISAN Exco  returning unopposed as none of them had any challenger.  The roll call includes: Mr. BabatundeShittu-President; Akam Christopher-Vice-President; Williams Ngerem-General Secretary; Jegh Clifford-Assistant General Secretary; Jelili Aro-Financial Secretary; Justina Odede-Treasurer; Patrick Akpatafa-Public Relations Officer and Amaka Obi-Auditor. In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected Executive Council, the President, Babatunde Shittu gave glory to God and thanked all members of AISAN saying “I now know that hard work and diligence pays. We accept this honour and we will serve you. The challenges are high but I urge you all to join hands to work with us. Thank you for the confidence you have in us and with God on our side, we shall get there”.

LEO EGUABOR CELEBRATES ELEVATION TO GM

THE General Manager, Legal Services, Mr Leo Eguabor, on Wednesday entertained  friends, family and colleagues in his office at NAMA headquarters annex, Lagos, to mark his confirmation as substantive GM. He also used thopportunity to celebrate his birthday which coincided with his elevation. The event attracted eminent personalities such as the SLO, Mr Abdul Eneche ,GM Audit, Mr Patrick ChukwuedoGM ,Human Resources,Mrs Martha SuleGM ,PRS, Alh. Musa Maisallau,  Ag. U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. NAMA NEWS UPDATE

ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA.
