The
Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has been inundated with commendations from
several callers at the agency’s stand at the just concluded 2014 Lagos
International Trade Fair, for what most described as its very critical role in
ensuring the safety and security of air travel in Nigeria. Others commended NAMA for its efficient service
delivery as an air navigation service provider. A legal practitioner, Mr Chika
Ajaero described NAMA as ‘’a reasonable establishment.’’ He suggested a
continuous interaction among flyers and aviation agencies to ensure harmony and
co-operation in the overall interest of the safety of the Nigerian airspace. Mr
Wole Afolahan, a staff of First City Monument Bank in his comment described
NAMA as ‘’a critical institution made up of pleasant, erudite and very knowledgeable
staff. He suggested that the agency’s ‘’ very laudable efforts at sustaining
air safety should be complimented by airing its activities in the mass media on
a frequent basis.’’ Organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
this year’s fair with the theme: Promoting the Nigerian Economy as a Preferred
Investment Destination attracted over 200 exhibitors and thousands of
visitors from all over the world.
TECHNICAL
COMMITTEE ON AVIATION STATISTICS MEETS IN OTTA, OGUN STATE
The Technical Committee on
Aviation Statistical Data Reconciliation and Harmonization, comprising
representatives of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and all parastatals under
it as well as NAHCO Aviance and SAHCOL is scheduled to commence a crucial
meeting today, 17th November, 2014 at the Bezer Hall and Resort Ltd,
Otta, Ogun State. Supervised by the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Five-day
event ending on the 21st of November, 2014 is intended to reconcile
and harmonize aviation data spanning three quarters (January-September, 2014)
from cargo, air passenger, airline and aircraft movement. According to the GM
PRS, Mrs Martha Sule, the reconciliation and harmonization of figures among
these agencies is crucial as it would make for ‘’accurate, dependable and
verifiable aviation sector data for stakeholders’ consumption and also create
room for effective planning.’’
WOMEN
IN AVIATION HOLDS ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Annual Conference of Women in Aviation,
Nigeria Chapter comes up between the 26th and 27th of
November, 2014 with the theme: Inspiring the Next Generation. Activities
lined up for the conference on the first day include Tours and Road shows,
Essay Competition by selected schools, workshops, seminars and health talks at
MMIA Conference Room, followed by a Novelty Match at the Murtala Mohammed
Airport School, Ikeja by 4pm. Billed for the second day at Zen Garden, GRA
Ikeja are Motivational Talks, Calisthenics, Scholarship Awards and
a Gala Night. All aviation and stakeholders are expected to turn out en masse
and grace the event.
