NAMA MD PLEDGES COMMITMENT TO INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT




\The Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam has solicited a collaborative partnership between the media and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) as it strives to deliver “a world class CNS/ATM infrastructure across the nation that would guarantee the safety and security of the Nigerian airspace, within the ambit of the Aviation Master plan.’’ Engr. Abdulsalam who made these remarks at the 20th Annual Seminar of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) which took place at the NCAA headquarters annex in Lagos, where he was represented by the Ag. GM Procurement, Engr. Muyiwa Adegorite, also expressed delight that the successful implementation of TRACON has given Nigeria the platform for the overlay of other cutting edge technologies due for takeoff like Controller/ Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC), Mode S Data Link and Aeronautical Information Service Automation.  Engr Abdulsalam also noted that in line with his administration’s safety critical manpower development plan, the agency has made tremendous progress in building capacity with the recent rating of 79 Air Traffic Controllers to support the manpower needs of the area radar control service. Earlier in an address, the Chairman of LAAC, Mr Chukwuemeke Iwelunmo commended NAMA for addressing the challenge of ageing workforce with the passing out of cadet Air Traffic Controllers from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, (NCAT) Zaria. This year’s LAAC seminar with the theme: Aviation Infrastructure and Policy as Stimulus for Economic Growth in Nigeria attracted aviation experts, stakeholders as well as politicians from across the country.

ADEWALE OJO BOWS OUT
A change in the leadership of Aeronautical Communications Department on Tuesday saw the erstwhile General Manager, Mr Adewale Ojo, handing over to Mr Gabriel Oluleke Akinola in a brief ceremony at NAMA headquarters in Lagos.
 In his remarks at the event, the Director of Human Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson, commended the outgoing GM for his fatherly disposition and for creating a favourable environment for succession. He enjoined others to maintain the peaceful atmosphere that Mr Ojo was leaving behind in the department.
 Also speaking, Mr Akinola solicited the co-operation of all staff of the department in building on the achievements of the outgoing GM. In his reaction, the outgoing GM Mr Adewale Ojo thanked all the staff for the support and co-operation given him over the years. He also charged them to extend the same hand of fellowship which they accorded him to his successor.

Capt Mahmoud, Others Call for Overhaul of Obsolete Navigational Aids, Security at Nation’s Airports

Cameron welcomes new 50 million pound airside investment at Edinburgh Airpoort

Source: Edinburgh Airport Prime Minister David Cameron visited Edinburgh Airport this afternoon (22 January) as it announced a new £50m airside investment programme. Work begins this week on an extensive redevelopment of the airport’s immigration and baggage reclaim facilities, a move that will triple capacity for bigger long-haul aircraft.
