NAMA, NAF TO PRMOTE SYNERGY ON AIRSPACE CORDINATION


The Nigerian Air Force has pledged to strengthen existing cordial and harmonious relationship with NAMA in the overall safety and security of the nation’s airspace. The Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Olutayo Oguntoyinbo who stated this when he led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to NAMA headquarters, Lagos on Friday, noted that as a dependable ally, NAMA has always collaborated with the NAF in the area of strategic airspace management, training of Air Force personnel, air traffic control and airspace surveillance. AVM Oguntoyinbo also stated that ‘’the professional and technical expertise provided by NAMA in Air Force training and operations has remained invaluable’’, adding that their visit was therefore ‘’to build on this existing synergy between the two organizations in view of the numerous benefits accruing to the nation in terms of safety and security of the airspace’’. In his remarks, the Managing Director Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam noted that “the relationship between NAF and NAMA needs to be continually improved upon since both organizations play complimentary roles in ensuring a safe, secure, effective  airspace” for Nigeria, stressing that ‘’NAMA would always provide the needed capacity and expertise to the Nigerian Air Force whenever the need arises’’.

NAMA MD CONGRATULATES 59 ATCs ON RATING
The Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam has congratulated 59 Air Traffic Controllers who were recently rated by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA) after successfully undergoing trainings in Lagos, Kano, Abuja and Portharcourt
stations. Engr. Abdulsalam in a statement gave kudos to them for their excellence and also tasked them to ‘’deploy this wealth of experience towards enriching the capacity of airspace operations in the country’’. A total of 59 NAMA staff have been undergoing on-the-job training at the above airport locations in Aerodrome, Approach Procedural, Area Airways Procedural, Approach Surveillance and Area Control Surveillance and it is believed that this latest development will further boost capacity of the agency in the critical area of operations.

NAMA CONDUCTS SUCCESSFUL FACTORY ACCEPTANCE TEST ON IS 10.02 NETWORK
In a bid to ascertain the correct functionality of the VSAT SPDC-Multiplex network to be delivered in Lagos and Kano by Mocom Communications GmbH, a successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) has been undertaken on the equipment by officials of NAMA and Mocom Communications in Munich, Germany. This fully redundant network will serve as an international gateway for Nigeria to adjacent and contiguous Flight Information Regions (FIRs) in the AFISNET Network. The FAT team to Germany was led by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs Clara Aliche. Also on the team were the Ag. GM, Procurement, Engr. Muyiwa Adegorite, Ag.GM Electronics Communication, Engr. Cyprpain Egwim,  and S/A to MD on Special Duties, Mr Babatunde Sotin.

OLAJIRE BOWS OUT AS MD EXTOLS HIS VIRTUES

The Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam has congratulated the outgone Airspace Manager, MMIA Mr Aderemi Olajire for his invaluable contribution to the growth of the agency. Engr. Abdulsalam who made these remarks at the send-off party organized by the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) at MMIA conference centre in Lagos on Friday also advised others to emulate his pragmatic and result oriented leadership style. Earlier on Thursday, staff of MMIA  also played host to their out-going boss at the same venue where eulogies flowed freely from all and sundry whose lives have been positively touched by Mr Olajire.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA.
