NAMA MD LOSES FATHER INLAW…fidau prayer held on Sunday


The 8th day Fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of Alhaji Rasheed Olatidoye Durodoye who slept in the Lord on the 26th of July, 2014 was held on Sunday, the 3rd of August, 2014. The event which attracted people from all walks of life took place at the playground of Government Technical College, Osogbo. In attendance were family members, friends and political associates. Expectedly, some NAMA officials including top management staff were on hand to support the MD and his family. Engr. Abdulsalam who appreciated the turnout of staff even without prior notice apologized to the entire workforce for not publicizing the event which he attributed to sudden unanticipated logistic reasons. Clerics extolled the exemplary life of Pa Durodoye and urged the children to emulate him.

 
AIRFIELD LIGHTING,NAFIS, VEGETATION AND WILDLIFE DEPTS EXCISED FROM NAMA

Approval has been secured from the Ministry of Aviation for the ceding of Airfield Lighting and Wildlife/Vegetation Control Departments back to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) while the Navigational Aids Flight Inspection Surveillance (Calibration Unit) goes back to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam who disclosed this during a special prayer session organized on Friday at NAMA headquarters in Lagos noted that the formal handing-over shall be done in a matter of days, assuring staff of better days to come as fallout. Engr. Abdulsalam also revealed that approval for the NAMA’s 2014 budget is in the final stages of approval and thus appealed for patience from staff as this delay was affecting most of the agency’s activities at the moment.

 
NAMA HOLDS INTERCESSORY PRAYERS

Management and staff of NAMA began the month of August with Christian and Muslim prayers held on Friday at NAMA headquarters in Lagos. According to the Director of Human Resources, Dr. Uwem Akangson the prayer sessions were organized to seek God’s intervention in the light of recent loss of NAMA staff in quick succession. The Managing Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam at the event thanked NAMA staff for heeding to the call for prayers, stressing that “obedience to God should reflect in the way and manner staff conduct their affairs in the organization”. The duo of Pastor Taiwo Ola of Christ House Int. Christian Centre and Pastor Uche Akueche of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, who conducted the Christian prayer sessions asked  for God’s guidance and protection for management and staff  for the safety of the Nigerian Airspace. Muslim prayers were held later in the evening at the Airport  Mosque  with the MD and other top management staff in attendance.
 
…TO PROMOTE SAFETY IN GULF OF GUINEA     

As activities increase in the Niger Delta area in oil exploration, there is also an upsurge of low level flight operations by Helicopters & Fixed-wing aircraft, with an increasing risk of  mid-air collision. To this end, a team of three experts in Airspace Planning/Procedures Design and ATC Operations led by the DOO, Mr John Onyegiri on Wednesday held a crucial meeting with Operators in the area and  the outcome was a collaboratively crafted Airspace Structure and Standard Operating Procedure targeted at improving situational awareness of both ATCOs and Pilots, to enhance safety of all flights.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA.
