The Managing Director,
Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam has solicited the support and cooperation of
professional associations in the agency’s drive towards efficiency and
professionalism in service delivery. Engr. Abdulsalam who made this plea during
an interactive session with professional associations including representatives
of NATCA, AISAN, NAAE, NACAN and NAPA, on Friday at NAMA headquarters in Lagos said
such a working synergy had become critical in view of the crucial role played
by the various professionals in the overall safety portfolio of the agency. The
NAMA boss, while giving a rundown of his stewardship in the past five months
also pointed out that management had put in place modalities for the payment of
staff arrears while other welfare and professional issues are also being vigorously
tackled, stressing that training and
retraining of personnel would remain a top priority of his administration. He
also addressed concerns raised by some of the representatives which bordered
largely on training, licensing, rating, and communication. In his remarks, the
Director of Human Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson tasked professionals to work
assiduously towards growing the agency’s revenue as this would put it in good
stead to address the above concerns.
NAMA OKAYS KEBBI AIRPORT FOR
TAKE-OFF
Sequel to the recent Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) signed by NAMA and the Kebbi State Government for the
provision of air navigation services in the newly established airport, a
high-powered delegation of NAMA staff on operational inspection has expressed
satisfaction with the hi-tec equipment and facilities put in place for the
commencement of commercial flight operations. The six-man team led by the GM,
Chart Services, Mr Peter Akonti comprised staff of Electronics Communications,
Airspace Planning, ATC Operations and PMO inspected facilities such as the
control tower and associated equipment, runway and associated lighting systems,
navigational facilities, communication and navigational equipment room and
administrative offices for NAMA. According to the Ag. Director of Operations,
Mr Edward Ogedegbe, the pass mark given by the inspection team is indicative of
the high premium placed by the state on standard and safety.
NAMA MD TASKS NAAE ON
EFFICIENCY
The
Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam has urged air traffic engineers to
improve their competence in order to enhance safety and efficiency in the
discharge their duties in the agency. Engr. Abdulsalam who was represented by
the Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services (DSEES), Engr. Emma
Anasi at a one-day symposium organized by the National Association of Air
Traffic Engineers (NAAE) with the theme “Enhancing
Competence, Safety and Efficiency in Air Traffic Engineering in Nigeria” on
Thursday at MM2 Conference Room in Lagos also noted that such workshops are
important as they would add to the agency’s drive towards efficiency and
professionalism. Papers presented at the conference include: Air Navigation Infrastructures and Human Capital;
Air Navigation Systems and Safety and Enhancing Competence, Safety and
Efficiency in Air Traffic Engineering.

ALICHE, DFA MARKS BIRTHDAY
The
Director of Finance, Mrs Clara Aliche, was on Friday celebrated as she marked
her birthday at the MD/CE conference room, NAMA headquarters in Lagos. The
event attracted dignitaries such as the
Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, Director of Human
Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson among others. Engr. Abdulsalam in a brief remark extolled
the quality of leadership which Mrs Aliche has brought to bear on her
directorate and wished her more happy years of prosperity. The celebrant who
thanked God for the gift of life however noted that she had to postpone the
event from the actual date of Sunday, the 17th of August to enable
the MD be a part of it.
