 Cargo Plane Skids Off Abuja Airport Runway 

 *5 Crew members unhurt 



A freighter belonging to  Allied Air Cargo marked  5N-JRT, skidded off  runway  at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,  Abuja .

The incident  recorded around 10.05am  had  all five  crew  on board escaped unhurt,but were  taken to Airport Clinic for further medical examination.

Expectedly,the airport was temporarily closed to traffic to enable airport officials clear the runway of foreign particles.

 Mrs. Obiageli Orah, spokesperson for FAAN,said the runway  currently being cleared, and it is expected to reopen for operations as soon as possible. 

She urged the public to refrain from speculating about the incident until the preliminary report is released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria expressed gratitude to the aviation community and the general public for their understanding and patience during this time.

  The incident, according  to Orah, is currently being  investigated,adding that  further details will be provided as more information becomes available.

NAMA UPDATE

                          NAMA MOURNS AS FORMER MD ,MOHAMMED YUSUFU LAID TO REST A huge pall of grief has enveloped the entire NAMA family following the news early in the week that Alhaji Mohamed Yusufu, second Managing Director of the agency had passed on.  The late Alhaji Yusufu who held sway as NAMA boss between 2001 and 2004 was born in Kogi State in 1948. He joined the then Nigerian Civil Aviation Department as an Air Traffic Controller in 1967 after graduating from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria. By dint of hard work, commitment and dedication to duty, Alhaji Yusufu  rose through the ranks to become a General Manager in 1995 and Managing Director/ Chief Executive of NAMA in 2001.
