             NAMA MOURNS AS FORMER MD ,MOHAMMED YUSUFU LAID TO REST

A huge pall of grief has enveloped the entire NAMA family following the news early in the week that Alhaji Mohamed Yusufu, second Managing Director of the agency had passed on.  The late Alhaji Yusufu who held sway as NAMA boss between 2001 and 2004 was born in Kogi State in 1948. He joined the then Nigerian Civil Aviation Department as an Air Traffic Controller in 1967 after graduating from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria. By dint of hard work, commitment and dedication to duty, Alhaji Yusufu  rose through the ranks to become a General Manager in 1995 and Managing Director/ Chief Executive of NAMA in 2001. A seasoned Air Traffic Controller and administrator par excellence, the late Yusufu who died on the 9th of February, 2015 will be remembered for his unflinching commitment to the safety of the Nigerian airspace. Meanwhile, a high-powered delegation comprising top management staff of the agency was among friends, family and associates of the late Alhaji Yusufu who gathered at Enjeme/Egwula, Ankpa-Kogi Sate on Sunday, the 15th of February, 2015 for the Fidau prayer in his family residence. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Amen.

    
ATCs HONOUR OGEDEGBE, OLAJIRE AND UKPAI
AS NAMA MD COMMENDS RETIRING STAFF
THE Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, has commended the trio of Mr Edward Ogedegbe, immediate past Director of Operations, Aderemi Olajire, former ASM, MMIA and Kalu Ukpai, recently retired GM, Search and Rescue for their “invaluable contributions to the growth of the agency both individually and collectively.” Engr. Abdulsalam who made this commendation during the send-off party organized in their honour by the Air Traffic Controllers Committee, NAMA hqtrs at the Blue Lodge, MMIA Ikeja Lagos also congratulated them for “leaving indelible footprints in the agency through exemplary leadership in their various capacities” just as he charged others to emulate them. Earlier in their speeches, the Director of Human Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson, DSEES, Engr Emma Anasi, DOO, Mr Segun Ogunmola and DOA, Dr Saleh Ibrahim amongst others, appreciated the retiring staff for their patriotism and commitment to duty especially over the years. Responding on behalf of the celebrants, Mr Ogedegbe  thanked the organizers for the event and also enjoined staff to give NAMA management the needed support and cooperation to take the agency to greater heights.

PROMOTION INTERVIEW IN PROGRESS
The 2015 promotion interview exercise has commenced today (16/02/15) for GL 07-14 at MMIA while that of out stations shall hold between the 17th and 21st February, 2015. A circular signed by the Director of Human Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson advises affected staff to make themselves available for the exercise.

COY. SEC., BARR. PAUL OKI LOSES DAD
DEATH is announced of Honourable Justice Josiah Ajasa Poutinkomo Oki, father of NAMA Company Secretary, Barr. Paul Oki, on the 13th of January, 2015. Late Hon. Justice Josiah Oki, obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of London in 1954 and Master of Arts Degree from the Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada in 1957. He proceeded to the Inns of Court School of Law (Gray’s Inn) and was called to the English Bar in 1960. He had a brilliant career in the public service which saw him as Chief Registrar of Court of Midwestern State (1968), Judge of the high Court (1971), Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Bendel State, (1975), Chairman, Bendel State 1983 Gubernatorial Election Tribunal, and Chief Judge of Bendel State (1985). The late Oki was also Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Delta State University, Abraka. A devout Christian and devoted family man, Late Hon. Justice Oki is survived by his wife, Mrs Edith A. Oki, 6 children and 14 grandchildren. Obsequies to be announced soon.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA. Receiving the report, Chief Chidoka stated that “the power of automation especially in the dynamic world of aviation cannot be wished away as it would facilitate the one aviation vision and also set targets and measurable timelines”.
