Arik Air capacity ahead of Christmas, introduces new A340 wide-body aircraft on London route


Arik Air, West and Central Africa’s largest carrier is increasing its flight frequencies to key domestic destinations ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities to cope with passenger demands.
The airline’s decision to increase flight frequencies on the domestic routes is predicated on the need to ensure that many Nigerians are able to travel home to share the joy of the season with family and friends.
To also cope with the demands of its international passengers on the London Heathrow and New York JFK routes, the airline has leased a wide-body A340-300 from Portugal to supplement its wide-body fleet of two A330-200 aircraft.
Arik Air connects 18 destinations within Nigeria, 10 in West/Central Africa and three international destinations enabling the airline to bring more Nigerian families together this festive season than any other carrier.
Instead of the average 100 daily flights normally operated, Arik Air will during the festive period increase its daily flights to an average of 120.
Arik Air’s Managing Director/Executive Vice President, Mr. Chris Ndulue added: “For many of our guests, the Christmas and New Year period is a time when families wish to be reunited at the end of a busy year. Arik Air is therefore very pleased to announce that on many of our domestic routes, the airline will be scheduling additional flights and operating larger aircraft to cater for the increasing demand.”

Qatar Airways in Hot Water: NCAA Accuses Airline of Disregarding Nigerian Laws

 The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has slammed Qatar Airways with serious allegations of disregarding Nigerian passengers and aviation laws .  According to NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer  Protection, Michael Achimugu ,Qatar Airways had  repeatedly violated regulations, notably in an incident involving a Nigerian couple traveling to the US via Doha .  A cabin crew member had accused the male passenger of misconduct during boarding in Lagos , but didn't report it then.  However, upon arrival in Doha, the accusation was made, leading to his arrest and detention for 18 hours.  The passenger, Achimugu stated  had to pay a fine and sign a document in Arabic , which he couldn't read, to secure his release and  despite this, Qatar Airways refused to let him continue his journey, forcing him to buy new tickets. NAMA UPDATE

                          NAMA MOURNS AS FORMER MD ,MOHAMMED YUSUFU LAID TO REST A huge pall of grief has enveloped the entire NAMA family following the news early in the week that Alhaji Mohamed Yusufu, second Managing Director of the agency had passed on.  The late Alhaji Yusufu who held sway as NAMA boss between 2001 and 2004 was born in Kogi State in 1948. He joined the then Nigerian Civil Aviation Department as an Air Traffic Controller in 1967 after graduating from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria. By dint of hard work, commitment and dedication to duty, Alhaji Yusufu  rose through the ranks to become a General Manager in 1995 and Managing Director/ Chief Executive of NAMA in 2001.
