NAMA COMMENCES COORDINATION LINKS WITH ASECNA
 SEQUEL to the recent visit of the ASECNA team to Nigeria and agreements reached with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) on collaboration, harmonization and standardization of CNS/ATM infrastructure between both agencies, a team of engineers from ASECNA has already arrived the country for the purpose of setting up coordination links between Lagos-Lome, Lagos-Malabo and Kano-Lome. The ASECNA technical staff who were drawn from the agency’s headquarters in Senegal and Togo are expected to work closely with NAMA officials to effect the installation of base band equipment and satellite modems, including configurations and tests between Lagos and Kano which would bring about   a successful integration and coordination between Nigeria and its Francophone neighbours. According to the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, ‘’this project is part of the larger agreement reached with ASECNA on a working partnership that would make for seamless and interoperable systems across the region and you can rest assured that the safety of the African sky is our primary consideration.’’

2ND JCC RETREAT BEGINS IN ABEOKUTA
The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an initiative of the Directorate of Human Resources has begun deliberations in a 3-day retreat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. With participants drawn from the leadership of all the agency’s industrial unions and professional associations, the retreat is aimed at providing a conducive atmosphere for both management and the various interest groups within the agency to deliberate on issues of mutual concern and also come up with resolutions that would engender industrial harmony in the system. With incisive presentations expected from resource persons like Mrs Omolara Olarenwaju, a former Director of Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations, the retreat with the caption: Charting and Navigating a Course by all Stakeholders Towards Attaining, Achieving and Sustaining Industrial Harmony in NAMA and the Aviation Industry is expected to come up with a communique on the way forward.

NAMA ESTABLISHES SECURITY HOTLINES
IN order to facilitate easy access to security personnel on duty at NAMA headquarters in Lagos, management has established telephone lines at both the headquarters gate and headquarters annex gate.  For Headquarters Gate: 012919527 and for Headquarters Annex Gate: 012919528. Staff are therefore advised to call these lines for all enquiries and in emergencies.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. Foreign firms are attracted to the U.S. aerospace market because it is the largest in the world and has a skilled and hospitable workforce, extensive distribution systems, diverse offerings, and strong support at the local and national level for policy and promotion.  According to a recent study by the U.S. Department of Commerce, aerospace exports directly and indirectly support more jobs than the export of any other commodity.  The U.S. aerospace industry directly employs about 500,000 workers in scientific and technical jobs across the nation and supports more than 700,000 jobs in related fields.  Investment in the U.S. aerospace industry is facilitated by a large pool of...

ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA.
