45 ATC cadets obtain ratings


  Forty five cadet Air Traffic Controllers who have been undergoing
on-the-job training at various airports across the country have
successfully completed their rating examination conducted by the
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

The rating examination which was done in phases was held between 5th
July 2013 and 28th February 2014 took place at Abuja, Lagos, Port
Harcourt and Benin Airports.

The breakdown of the results released by the Nigerian Civil Aviation
Authority (NCAA) shows that 5 cadets were trained on Approach Control
Surveillance (Radar) rating; 12 on Approach Control Procedural rating
and 28 on Aerodrome Control rating.

 The managing director of the Nigerian Management Agency (NAMA), Engr.
Ibrahim Abdulsalam expressed delight over the positive development,
saying that the brilliant performance of the cadets would further
boost the manpower need of the agency.

''We are indeed happy to have the cadets rated on all the critical
areas of our operations. Their outstanding performance lends credence
to our commitment to human capital development to sustain high quality
service delivery in the aviation industry'', the managing director
added.

   The Acting General Manager (Technical Evaluation), L.N. Okoye noted
in a remark that the rating would improve and ease some of the acute
staffing difficulties being faced by the ATC units across the country.

Air Traffic Controllers Suspend Warning Strike...In Crucial Meeting With NAMA Management

Normalcy has returned to the nation's airspace as  Air Traffic Controllers stepped down it warning strike which informed spacing of traffic flow by 20 minutes at four major airports in Lagos,Abuja, Portharcourt and Kano. The  suspension,according to a statement signed by the Managing Director of the Agency , Capt. Fola Akinkuotu is to allow " for a follow-up meeting between NAMA management, Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Association, scheduled to hold later today".  Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) reassured airspace users and the general public that the Nigerian airspace remains safe for seamless and economic air travel.  The agency expressed regret over streaks of  inconveniences caused earlier today by the warning strike.
