ENGR. IBRAHIM ABDULSALAM SUCCEEDS ENGR.NNAMDI UDOH





A change of guards which saw to the replacement of four CEOs of agencies in the Ministry of Aviation occurred within the week, with Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, taking over the reins from Engr. Mazi Nnamdi Udoh, as new Managing Director/ Chief Executive. Until his latest appointment, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam  was the General Manager, Procurement, in the agency.  He comes in with nearly two decades of experience as an administrator and technocrat with bias in Air Traffic Engineering. Engr. Abdulsalam began his professional career with the then Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) as a Pupil Engineer. Between that time and his latest appointment, Engr. Abdulsalam, has worked in various departments and has held several management positions in NAMA, culminating in his appointment as General Manager, Procurement. He has a Bachelor’s Degree as well as Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and University of Massachusetts, USA respectively.

COREN CONGRATULATES NEW NAMA MD

Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has expressed confidence in the choice of Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam as Managing Director/ Chief Executive of NAMA. In his opening remark during the professional interview and registration of engineering personnel held at NAMA headquarters in Lagos, COREN’s Head of Engineering Regulation, Engr. Mayas Adoyi, said Engr. Abdulsalam shall be tapping from his many years of technical and professional experience, as well as organizational management, to take the agency to the next level. Also in a brief comment, Group Capt. John Obakpolor, who was the Chief Examiner at the event, noted that President Jonathan’s choice of Engr. Abdusalam, who is young, versatile and highly experienced, is a sign of good things to come for NAMA, stressing that the new MD’s impressive pedigree would put him in good stead to consolidate on the gains of his predecessor, Engr. Mazi Nnamdi Udoh.

NAAE COMMENDS APPOINTMENT OF NEW NAMA MD

The National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) has lauded President Jonathan for demonstrating continuity of the on-going transformation of the aviation sector with the appointment of a seasoned engineer as Managing director of NAMA. In a statement signed by its Secretary Engr. Opah Ojar, the union said that the appointment of Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, a rated Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel, would ensure continuity and consolidation of achievements of the Federal Government in the sector, especially in ensuring the safety of the Nigerian airspace.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA.
