OSHIOMHOLE COMMENDS NAMA FOR EFFECTIVE AIRSPACE MANAGEMENT



THE Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has been lauded for effectively maintaining the safety of air navigation in the country. Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who made these remarks at the just concluded Airspace Managers Forum in Benin City, the Edo State capital, expressed gratitude that “the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has been discharging its responsibilities creditably well.”

 The Comrade Governor who was represented on the occasion by his deputy,Dr Pius Odubu noted however that despite the relative safety in the Nigerian airspace, more work needed to be done by the agency in the area of embracing modern navigational aids and ensuring that global practices are adhered to in the daily operation of the agency.

 In his remarks, the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, who was alsorepresented by the Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services, Engr. Emma Anasi, thanked the governor for his visionary leadership which has manifested in the massive infrastructural development in Edo State. 
He pledged to continue to support Airspace Managers in the overall interest of maintaining the safety of air navigation in the country. Also speaking, the immediate past chairman of the forum, Mr Ifeanyi Okwor commended the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) for its continued effort in upgrading the nation’s CNS/ATM infrastructure across the country. 

While laudingNAMA on the recent successful Site Acceptance Test on the Kano Safe Tower project as well as ADS-C/CPDLC soon to be commissioned by the agency, Mr Okwor equally implored management to implement a comprehensive recruitment and training plan for core CNS/ATM personnel, in order to attain the number of proficient staffing level required to man and operate the essential air navigation facilities, which have been installed at a great cost to the agency

 This year’s second ASM Forum with the theme: ICAO TAG MISSION TO NIGERIA: THE MATTERS ARISING attracted aviation experts as well as airline operators from across the country.

ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING TO SUPPORT NAMA

The Nigerian Academy of Engineering has pledged to cooperate with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in its effort to continue to promote safety of air navigation in the 
country.
President of the academy, Professor R.I. Salawu who led a delegation of the academy to NAMA headquarters in Lagos, noted that such a technical cooperation would further boost the efficiency of the agency in the discharge of its duties. 

In his remarks, the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. IbrahimAbdulsalam noted that NAMA was glad to be associated with the academy in view of its outstanding achievements in nation building. The visiting engineers were later conducted round the agency’s installations at the MurtalaMohammed International Airport, Lagos on a facility tour along with other top management staff of NAMA.

Capt Mahmoud, Others Call for Overhaul of Obsolete Navigational Aids, Security at Nation’s Airports

Cameron welcomes new 50 million pound airside investment at Edinburgh Airpoort

Source: Edinburgh Airport Prime Minister David Cameron visited Edinburgh Airport this afternoon (22 January) as it announced a new £50m airside investment programme. Work begins this week on an extensive redevelopment of the airport’s immigration and baggage reclaim facilities, a move that will triple capacity for bigger long-haul aircraft.
