NAMA PARLEYS NCAT ON EFFECTIVE TRAINING

NAMA ON Wednesday played host to the top management team of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, in a crucial meeting that bordered on streamlining the content and procedure of training as well as review of course duration. An understanding was struck between the two agencies for NCAT to be informed of any system change or upgrade so as to reflect in training; NCAT would also be a part of the installation process of NAMA equipment so that trainees could easily assimilate; NAMA as part of the MOU, agreed to send trainees and instructors with live experience to complement training in Zaria.   Earlier, the NCAT team led by Capt. Samuel Akinyele Caulkrick was shown a model of NAMA International Learning and Development Centre to be sited in Lagos, which the agency intends to deploy as a training facility.

 

ELECTRO-MECHANICAL DEPT. COMMENCES ON-THE-JOB TRAINING

In order to ensure that all calibers if staff catch up with their job expectations and demands in line with present dynamics of technology, the Electromechanical Department is organizing a training programme at no cost to the agency. Tagged ‘’Training  Progamme for Technical Skill Acquisition on Preventive and Curative Maintenance Service’’, the programme is scheduled to hold between 9th May and 14th June, 2014 at NAMA Headquarters Annex, Lagos. Declaring the programme open, the Managing Director, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, commended the initiative of the department in ‘’bridging some of the gaps in accomplishing the daily tasks as this would identify the lapses and reduce failures in the system’’. Engr. Abdulsalam also called for a general interface between departments in order to enhance synergy and efficiency in the system.

 

NAMA DECORATED AS AVIATION AGENCY OF THE YEAR

In recognition of its excellent service delivery in air traffic management and surveillance, NAMA has been decorated as ‘’ Aviation Agency of the Year’’ by Transport Day Newspaper during its second Nigerian Transport Award and Lecture held in Lagos. In their citation, the newspaper noted that NAMA has in the discharge of its statutory duties, ensured transformation of the sector by ensuring the safety of the Nigerian Airspace.

 

BALA, GM COMMERCIAL TAKES A BOW

Mr James T Bala, erstwhile General Manager, Commercial Department, on Monday, handed over the reins of leadership to Mrs Umeh Joy Chinedu (DGM Commercial), marking his retirement from service. In the event which took place at the office of the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr Bala thanked staff of the department for their loyalty and support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same hand of cooperation to his successor. Earlier, the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs Clara Aliche in her remarks, stated that the agency appreciates the dynamism and dedication which Mr Bala brought to bear on his job.

U.S. Aerospace Industry generates 1.2 million jobs...nets $118.5 billion export sales

  In 2012, the U.S. aerospace industry contributed $118.5 billion in export sales to the U.S. economy.  The industry’s positive trade balance of $70.5 billion is the largest trade surplus of any manufacturing industry and came from exporting 64.3 percent of all aerospace production. ARAP STEERING COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT ...AS CHIDOKA LAUDS NAMA FOR CREATION OF PMO _THE steering committee of the Aviation Revenue Automation Project (ARAP), inaugurated for the purpose of driving the full automation of all activities in the aviation agencies on Monday submitted its report to the Honourable Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka in Lagos. Among the recommendations of the committee was the need to drive commitment and enforcement to ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders while chief executives of all agencies should be held responsible to ensure that all revenue lines are captured under ARAP platform; also that all agencies should be encouraged to establish the Project Management Office (PMO) as is the case with NAMA.
