NAMA HOSTS ASECNA AND GCAA OVER MANAGEMENT OF TRAFFIC



 


IN a bid to further enhance safety of air navigation within the AFI region, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) last week hosted a two-day tripartite  meeting with Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar  (ASECNA) at the agency’s headquarters in Lagos.


  Among other issues, the meeting sought to ensure safe, effective and efficient management of traffic across their common borders within the African airspace


Vital resolutions that would aid in the management of traffic in the upper airspace within the three states were also reached. Further discussions on the management of traffic in the oceanic airspace are expected to continue at a later meeting slated to hold between July 13th and 15th in Dakar, Senegal to be presided by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

MEES GRADUATES 21ST BATCH OF STUDENTS

THE Mechanical/Electrical Engineering School, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday graduated its 21st batch of Chief Driver Mechanics/Chief Plant Operators in federal and state ministries, parastatals and agencies. Founded in 1908 as a Technical institution, the school, currently run by the Federal Ministry of Works aims at enriching the practical and theoretical knowledge of participants required for their elevation from Chief Driver Mechanics/Chief Plant Operators (GL07) to Works Superintendent (Mechanical Plant and vehicle). The six – month training would also equip them with necessary skills needed in identifying problems as well as effectively managing and maintaining government vehicles, construction plants and equipment. A total of 7 NAMA staff made the list of 97 participants.

NAMA UPGRADES AND RELOCATES POWER SYSTEMS AT HEADQUARTERS

IN line with the present management’s track record of prioritizing safety, power systems at the headquarters engineering room have been upgraded and relocated to a new power house detached from the main administrative building. According to the project supervisor, Engr. Atiku Abubakar, the project was borne out of the need to enhance safety, ensure ease of maintenance of electrical equipment and also improve stability of electricity supply within the headquarters complex

Capt Mahmoud, Others Call for Overhaul of Obsolete Navigational Aids, Security at Nation’s Airports

Cameron welcomes new 50 million pound airside investment at Edinburgh Airpoort

Source: Edinburgh Airport Prime Minister David Cameron visited Edinburgh Airport this afternoon (22 January) as it announced a new £50m airside investment programme. Work begins this week on an extensive redevelopment of the airport’s immigration and baggage reclaim facilities, a move that will triple capacity for bigger long-haul aircraft.
