NAMA RECEIVES REPORT ON MLAT FOR NIGER-DELTA
 
The proposed deployment of multilateration surveillance system in the Niger Delta area by the federal government is fully on course as  Nigerian Airspace Management Agency[NAMA]on Monday in Lagos,received the report on CNS/ATM Assessment of Low Level Flight Operations-Helicopters in that region .

As part of its implementation plan, the agency early this year commissioned NAV STAR CONSULTING of Canada to prepare a report for the sole purpose of assisting NAMA in making decisions regarding the scope of control of low-level flight operations in the region.
 
The report was based on the information provided by NAMA, its respective advisers and representatives and selected third parties. The estimates, assumptions and findings underlying the recommendations according to the firm, are inherently subject to significant economic and competitive uncertainties and contingencies.

 The report is exclusively meant for the information of Senior Management and key stakeholders of NAMA and its representatives. The preparation of the report and the analysis is at the request of NAMA in line with IATA’s agreement for consulting services between NAMA and NAV STAR Consulting.
 
 

The managing director of the agency,Engr.Mazi Nnamdi Udoh while receiving the report from the director of Operations, John Oyegiri,said the technical input from the consulting firm would be scrutinized before launching into the  next phase of the project which is the implementation billed for 2014.
 
Describing the report on the operation of Helicopters in that region as essential for the successful take off of the new surveillance system, noted that the step taken by the agency was in line with global practices before embarking on this safety critical project like the case in reference.

Air Traffic Controllers Suspend Warning Strike...In Crucial Meeting With NAMA Management

Normalcy has returned to the nation's airspace as  Air Traffic Controllers stepped down it warning strike which informed spacing of traffic flow by 20 minutes at four major airports in Lagos,Abuja, Portharcourt and Kano. The  suspension,according to a statement signed by the Managing Director of the Agency , Capt. Fola Akinkuotu is to allow " for a follow-up meeting between NAMA management, Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Association, scheduled to hold later today".  Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) reassured airspace users and the general public that the Nigerian airspace remains safe for seamless and economic air travel.  The agency expressed regret over streaks of  inconveniences caused earlier today by the warning strike. ABUJA RUNWAY AND ITS MANY TROUBLES

Runway 022, Abuja remains a night mare for the foreign airlines that frequently complaints about the rutted runway surface which has caused structural damage to under carriage of most aircraft on landing.
