FAA's Jay Pardee Recognized for Lifetime Achievement in Safety

During the first day of the 68th annual International Air Safety Summit, the FSF-Boeing Aviation Safety Lifetime Achievement Award was presented posthumously to Jay Pardee.

The award was given for his significant contributions to the U.S. Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST), his leadership role in the development of the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program, international safety cooperation and dissemination of flight safety information.

"His influence on safety analysis in collaboration with operators, manufacturers, labor groups and other government agencies led to focused, data driven safety enhancements," stated John Hamilton, vice president, safety, security and compliance, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Through his leadership and ability to bring government and the commercial aviation safety community together to focus on safety improvements, he truly enhanced air safety for the traveling public. Boeing is honored to join with Flight Safety Foundation to recognize his lifetime dedication to aviation safety."

"We are pleased to team up with Boeing to present this award, and this year we had a consensus nominee," stated FSF President and CEO Jon Beatty. "Jay's work to advance safety was unmatched, and we're glad that we can recognize it in this way. We all miss his passion and expertise, but will always be grateful for his dedication to safety that helped lead the industry to the safety levels we see today."

The award, established in 2002 by The Boeing Company and Flight Safety Foundation, recognizes an individual for his or her lifetime commitment and contribution to enhancing aviation safety.

Qatar Airways in Hot Water: NCAA Accuses Airline of Disregarding Nigerian Laws

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has slammed Qatar Airways with serious allegations of disregarding Nigerian passengers and aviation laws .
