ABDULSALAM;NAMA Md clocks 365 days in office  ...staff rate him high on  welfare



Ahead of its first anniversary coming up on Wednesday, the 4th of March 2015, key players in the Abdulsalam administration have been speaking on the performance of NAMA in the past one year which they have rated very high.According to the Legal Adviser, Mrs AnastasiaGbem, what drives success is quality of leadership and Engr. Abdulsalam has exhibitedthis abundantly in his bid to take NAMA to the top as a leading ANSP in Africa, adding that the legal department has provided the needed guidance on most of the key decisions taken in the past year, leading to some of the gains so far recorded by the agency. For the Director of Operations, Mr Segun Ogunmola,NAMA within this period has done very well in addressingvoice communication challenges and also fast-tracking digital communication with CPDLC and Mode S data link among others. According to Dr. Uwem Akangson, NAMA staff have never had it so good in terms of welfare as this administration has commenced payment of backlog of staff claims and arrears. He also revealed that management has put in place structures needed to pay off all outstanding benefits of retired staff by August, 2015, while also approving 20% increase in pensioners’ stipends. Other achievements he said include the ‘’purchase of two staff buses, productivity award for hard working staff as well as unveiling of new NAMA logo, indicating that we have re-branded.”

PROSPECTIVE RETIREES GET PRE-RETIREMENT TRAINING
A total of 34 retiring and retired staff of NAMA have benefitted from a 5-day workshop designed to prepare them for life after paid employment. Facilitated by International Gazielle ltd, the workshop which took place at Bezer Hotel, OttaOgun State treated topics such as Health Management in Retirement; Preparing to Retire into a Business Venture/Vocation; Making a Will and Contributory Pension Scheme in Perspective. Of the 34 participants in the workshop, 15 were drawn from headquarters, 5 from MMIA while the remaining 14 were from out stations across the country. According to the Director of Human Resources, Dr Uwem Akangson, this initiative is part of the holistic strategy of management to improve general welfare of staff, whether retired or in service.

NNANNA TAKES CHARGE OF AIRSPACE PLANNING AS ONWUAKPA BECOMES GM SAR
A minor reshuffle in the Directorate of Operations has seen Mr Nnanna Ugbaga, formerly the ASM,Abuja station assume duties as GM, Airspace Planning. He takes over from Mr Segun Ogunmolawho is currently the Ag. Director of Operations. Also affected is Mr Marcel Onwuakpahitherto the ASM, Port Harcourt who takes over as GM Search and Rescue/CMC. Ugbaga began his career in 1981 as an ATC Assistant. He holds a B.Sc in Political Science from the University of Calabar, apart from several ratings obtained in the course of training. Onwuakpa also joined the service in 1981. A highly experienced Air Traffic Controller with several ratings, he holds a B.Sc in Public Administration from the University of Abuja.

Air Traffic Controllers Suspend Warning Strike...In Crucial Meeting With NAMA Management

Normalcy has returned to the nation's airspace as  Air Traffic Controllers stepped down it warning strike which informed spacing of traffic flow by 20 minutes at four major airports in Lagos,Abuja, Portharcourt and Kano. The  suspension,according to a statement signed by the Managing Director of the Agency , Capt. Fola Akinkuotu is to allow " for a follow-up meeting between NAMA management, Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Association, scheduled to hold later today".  Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) reassured airspace users and the general public that the Nigerian airspace remains safe for seamless and economic air travel.  The agency expressed regret over streaks of  inconveniences caused earlier today by the warning strike. Full ATC Services Restored At MMIA As NAMA Deploys Mobile Tower

  The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has successfully deployed a Mobile Control Tower at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, in a swift and strategic response to the recent fire incident that affected critical air-ground communication infrastructure at the old terminal.
